Karalynne Call, mom of six and founder of Just Ingredients, began her health journey 18 years ago while battling suicidal depression. She shares her story on her Instagram account @just.ingredients.

With 1.1 million followers, she inspires people to make healthier lifestyle choices as she educates about ingredients they’re putting in and on their bodies. Her line of health and beauty products are free of toxins and artificial ingredients.

Today, Just Ingredients continues to provide clean, safe and accessible products, while sharing the hopeful message that healing is possible.

Eighteen years ago, I was terribly depressed, and actually attempted suicide. Thankfully, by the grace of God, that attempt was a failure. I had hit rock bottom and needed help.

Doctors told me there was nothing they could do except give me an antidepressant. That was lifesaving for me at the time, but I would tell those doctors, “I want to heal from this. Help me heal,” and nobody had answers for me.

I then found a doctor who told me that depression was my body screaming for help.

This rang true for me, and we did tests and found all these different things going on in my body. From nutrient deficiencies to hormone imbalances, to gut and liver issues … my body was screaming for help in the form of depression.

I went on an 18-month journey learning to fuel my body properly. I had no knowledge on how to do so because I was just eating the standard American diet. After 18 months of eating real food and seeing real results, and getting my nutrition certificate from Cornell University, I weaned off antidepressants, never to go back.

About six years ago, I found everyone around me dealing with their own challenges: autoimmune issues, migraines, ADHD, chronic fatigue. You name it, they were dealing with it. I just wanted to help everyone and show them how to eat real food and fuel their bodies properly. That obviously wasn’t feasible, so I took to Instagram to show people how to do it.

I have six kids who like mac and cheese and hamburgers, and I wanted to show that you can learn how to use real foods even with six kids at home. My goal was to reach 2,000 followers on Instagram. Once I had far surpassed that goal and reached over 100,000 followers, I realized I had a built-in customer base. At that point, I started creating products of things that I wanted and couldn’t find on the market — products that nourished the body.

We are now the official health and wellness partner of the Utah Jazz. We did a presentation for the committee, and told my story and my “why.” In the athletic world especially, people are realizing that they want to play longer. In order to do that, they’ve got to fuel their bodies properly and take care of their bodies afterwards.

In the past year alone, we filled 750,000 orders, only possible because of our efficiency and our rapidly growing customer base. In just five years, we’ve launched over 200 products, demonstrating our dedication to meeting diverse needs.

Looking back on the past 18 years, I’m so grateful there is hope and healing. It’s all about educating yourself and finding the people who can help you.

People are waking up to the health conditions in America — we are truly in a health crisis. And the solution is simple: Make food from food.
